It’s a difficult time at the moment, for everyone across the globe. This is probably the scariest, craziest, and most surreal thing we have ever gone through as a species.

On the subject of scary, crazy and absurd, many of us will be seeking solace in our favourite animes. Especially since leaving the house is out of the question, we’ll be travelling down our familiar and colourful rabbit holes, with the large-eyed characters we know and love.

Perhaps, however, we’re feeling a little fragile – and the existential philosophies of the likes of Akira and Ghost in the Shell seem a bit much at the moment. Well, fear not, because we’ve compiled here a list of ten anime movies that will undoubtedly raise your spirits.

To call Makoto Shinkai’s 2016 masterpiece a body-switching Freaky Friday-esque story would be a criminal understatement. It is a movie that takes your expectations, twists them around like a Rubik’s cube, and hands them back to you in the form of a perfect plot. Without giving too much away, you’ll spend a lot of time on the edge of your seat, but the journey is worth it.

Once you’ve finished Taki and Mitsuha’s crazy adventure, you’ll want to relive it again and again, and you’ll always leave with a feeling of warmth.
