10 Movies You Forgot Were Set At Christmas

Yes, it's acceptable to watch these films at Christmas.

The majority of movies set at Christmas are very about the fact that they're set at Christmas. After all, that's usually the point, for these movies to get audiences in the Christmas mood and return to these films each and every year.

It's fair to say that nobody's going to watch the first two Die Hard movies and forget that they're set at Christmas - especially with all the exhausting discourse about whether or not they're Christmas movies (hint: they absolutely are).

But on the other end of the spectrum are Christmas-set films which do almost anything but draw overt attention to the fact that they're set during the holiday period.

These 10 movies all take place during the season, and yet, unless you're a big enough fan to have watched them many dozens of times, you'll likely have forgotten that fact altogether.

These films, ranging from epic blockbusters to dark sci-fi tentpoles, classic slasher flicks, and summer sex comedies, all transpire at least partially over Christmas, yet if you ask the average punter, they'd almost never call them Christmas films...

10. Jurassic World

Granted, Jurassic World is for the most part a pretty damn forgettable movie anyway, but that's never truer than during its snow-topped establishing scene.

The movie's very first scene shows brothers Zach and Gray Mitchell (Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins) being taken to the airport by their parents as they begin their journey to Jurassic World.

Between their home being surrounded by snow and Tony Bennett's iconic "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" playing in the car on the way to the airport, there's no room for doubt - Jurassic World is indeed set at Christmas.

Yet nobody could be blamed for forgetting this - it's an extremely unmemorable scene and the rest of the movie takes place at Jurassic World, which being situated off the coast of Costa Rica, ensures a very sunny, tropical-looking climate for the film's remainder.
