Acting isn't easy. While some performances are so effortlessly presented on screen and give the impression that acting is a walk in the park, the commitment and talent that goes into delivering fine performances is above and beyond what many of us perceive it to be. Many of the top tier A-list actors have worked incredibly hard to get where they are today - they started out taking on bit parts, learned and honed their craft and got where they are through sheer hard work and dedication. At the same time, however, it's not uncommon for them to get more than a little complacent once they've carved out a niche. The roles they choose become less challenging and they settle into character stereotypes which match their personalities and the more interesting roles become fewer and farther between. Defining an actor as overrated is always going to be a relatively subjective thing - many people still admire them even when their choice of roles starts to become formulaic - this, after all, is why they became so famous in the first place, and their core fan base will always support them regardless. But to others the familiarity of one performance compared to the next becomes tiresome and predictable, making their star status seem more than a little unwarranted. The following list covers 10 huge stars who are considered by many to be overrated - actors who often get overpraised for delivering performances which bring nothing new to their output and feel as if they're working on autopilot.
