8 Reasons Not To Get Excited For Avengers: Infinity War

Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes to an official end in July with the release of Ant-Man, but the juggernaut will not be stopped. Civil War and Doctor Strange are set for 2016, An as-yet-untitled Spiderman film and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will come in 2017, before we get to the next Avengers movie, Avengers: Infinity War Pt 1 in 2018. Black Panther and Captain Marvel films will then plug the gap until I.W. Pt 2 a year later. Apparently, Infinity War will be everything that Marvel have been leading up to over the course of twenty films. TWENTY. That's a mind-bending achievement, but should you be excited? With Phase 3 set to kick off in earnest next year, the Marvel/Disney hype machine will be firing on all cylinders for the next half decade. But this article is suggesting that maybe everyone should calm down a little bit, perhaps even go into Infinity War, Marvel's Grand Slam, with ... low expectations. This isn't to suggest that the film will be bad, not by any stretch, but rather that everyone might enjoy it a bit more if they got on board with a few difficult realities about the movies, which might temper their excitement.
