When it comes to Halloween time, there are many titles that people get excited about watching. Whether they are a part of franchise names like Saw or the Conjuring, or classics like The Shinning, there are plenty of great options to accompany the spooky holiday.

Although it's true that we have so many established products to view, why not go in a different direction this year and approach something new?

With the genre being as vast and expansive as it is, many phenomenal titles go under the radar. Some of them are cheap and fun horror experiences and others are surprisingly profound terrors that will stick with you for a while after viewing.

These films are pieces that did not achieve the amount of success that they deserved, and whilst some gained cult status, it is safe to say that they should be far more well known.

So this Halloween treat yourself to an entirely new experience and watch one of these underrated flicks.

10. Tucker and Dale Vs Evil

Slasher films are often unbelievably played out. Clichés regularly fill this sub-genre of horror to the extent that all of them end up feeling the same. Individual outings such as Scream can counteract this, but overall the concept of a slasher flick is pretty paint by numbers. So when a film like this exists that utterly flips the idea on its head then you know it's something special.

Calling Tucker and Dale vs Evil a horror is a little far fetched as the film acts a little more like a humorous, satirical look at the prejudice of the genre. It follows our eponymous heroes as they try to enjoy their vacation in a cabin home that they have purchased. But when a group of teens end up stumbling into them a variety of unfortunate misunderstandings lead the youths to believe that Tucker and Dale are villainous killers like in a cliched slasher film.

The title is incredibly worth your time for many reasons, the main being the brilliant performances by Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk. These two have incredible chemistry, and Labine especially creates a character so loveable that it makes the whole scenario challenging to understand.

It is funny, gory and has some surprisingly compelling story elements within it.
