10 Worst Line Reads In Otherwise Brilliant Movies

The groaners, the howlers, the eye-rollers...

We've all been there: you're fully engrossed in and really enjoying a film, hanging on every word, and then... a character drops an absolute howler. Bad movies are usually full of terrible lines, but when they crop up in an otherwise great one, it's much harder to forgive. What constitutes a "bad line" will vary from person to person of course; what's meant as a witty retort or some hilarious banter is just as likely to have someone rolling their eyes as rolling with laughter. At the end of the day though, it all comes down to believability. No matter how far fetched the plot or the situation, if we don't buy into the characters then we're taken out of the movie... and nothing takes you out of a movie like a character spouting a line that comes across forced, unnatural, wooden or just plain stupid. To be fair it's not always the fault of the writing as some actors could make a dog's dinner of even the sharpest dialogue; but generally that is where the problems lie. As Harrison Form famously said to George Lucas on the set of the first Star Wars, "you can type this sh*t, but you can't say it." Here are 10 of the worst offenders.
