13 Awful Movies With 1 Awesome Scene

Rare moments of brilliance in truly dreadful movies.

It's easy to realise you're in the midst of a bad movie and just give up on it entirely, writing it off as irredeemably bad with poor writing, direction and acting infesting every single scene.

Sometimes, though, a bad movie has one standout scene, one action sequence, genuine character moment or death scene, that leaves viewers wishing it was in a better movie.

Though these films largely sucked, they at least got one scene pretty much note-perfect, almost jarringly so considering you'll probably want to watch these scenes in isolation on YouTube rather than ever actually sit through the entire movie again.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and though these movies largely have no grasp on what makes a great film, they did briefly stumble upon a flash of brilliance, probably by accident.

Here are 13 awesome movies with one awesome scene...

13. The Chicago Chase - Jupiter Ascending

The Awful Movie: The Wachowskis' infamous $175 million sci-fi flop failed to make much interest out of Mila Kunis playing a toilet cleaner who teams up with Channing Tatum's spacefaring man-dog in order to claim her intergalactic throne.

It looks nice and all, but the plot is borderline-incomprehensible, most of the actors seem just as confused as the audience, and Eddie Redmayne's scenery-chewing, Razzie-winning performance as the big bad truly has to be seen to be believed.

The Awesome Scene: Tatum and Kunis' characters flee from alien spaceships in downtown Chicago, with Tatum's thruster-boots allowing him to bob and weave between skyscrapers during a gloriously over-the-top five-minute escape sequence full of explosions and death-defying high-wire action.

It's one of the most visually accomplished scenes the Wachowskis have ever directed, and evidently belongs in a much better film.
