13 Unlikely Movies That Might Exist 10 Years From Now

Come on, Marvel!

Hollywood's bread and butter may be the predictability of audience trends and what gets butts in seats, but those occasional flashes of surprise can't be discounted either.

A decade ago, who would've expected Tobey Maguire to have been succeeded by two new Spider-Man actors, a Deadpool movie to prove more commercially alluring than the X-Men, Star Wars to come back in such a huge way, and Batman to fight Superman on-screen (regardless of its ultimate quality)?

The possibilities for the future are as such a mixture of exciting and terrifying. Just consider those never-say-die franchises that will continue to dispassionately print money, but also those long-awaited sequels that could finally triumph over adversity and actually get made.

The biggest surprises are the ones we probably won't see coming, but even so, here are 13 unlikely movies that might exist 10 years from now...

13. Transformers X

Why It's Unlikely: With next year's fifth Transformers movie, The Last Knight, being Michael Bay's apparently final time working on the franchise, the series is likely to experience a bit of a shake-up moving forward as Paramount seeks out a new director.

Transformers 6 is currently penciled in for 2019, but don't be surprised if it's delayed until 2020, meaning the series would "only" barely hit Transformers 9 by 2026. That's assuming franchise fatigue hasn't destroyed the series by then, of course, which is a distinct possibility.

Why It Might Happen: Consider that, from 2007 to 2017, the series will have released an impressive five movies, so it's certainly possible that by 2026 Transformers X will at least be in production.

This is, of course, without counting 2018's planned Bumblebee spin-off (which practically guarantees there will technically be ten live-action Transformers movies in existence by 2026).
