Going into any movie, audiences know that suspension of disbelief is a vital part of the process. When it comes to superhero movies in particular audiences are asked to push that suspension just that little bit further. Take for example the Batman film franchise - a world built on the idea of a billionaire playboy who moonlights as a masked vigilante in a world of monsters, circus sideshows and genuine gods. Realism be damned.

Batman's is a universe that plays by its own rules, and so filmmakers can usually gleefully produce the films in full faith that audiences will sacrifice logic for entertainment. In other words: being a Batman fan is all about rationalisation. You don't want to overthink every aspect, because that's where it all starts to fall to pieces.

Then again, you can't let the filmmakers get away with cheating, either, which means sometimes you have no choice but to accept some extremely odd things to enjoy Batman. Or even better, you could just ram your fingers in your ears and pretend they don't exist...
