20 Most WTF Moments In The DCEU (So Far)
From Superman's erased moustache to Batman's Martha epiphany, the DCEU is full of WTF moments.
The DC Extended Universe sure has put fans through one wild ride, huh?
Though it began promisingly enough with 2013's messy-but-compelling Man of Steel, the series has since suffered through numerous high-profile disappointments, a few unexpected successes, and then the left-field surprise that was Zack Snyder's Justice League.
Warner Bros.' attempt to craft their own answer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe may have ultimately been a massively mixed bag so far, but there's nevertheless a compelling weirdness to the entire enterprise, that no matter how sloppy and poorly thought-out it can be, you'd struggle to call it boring.
And so, the ten released movies to date certainly didn't leave audiences wanting for WTF moments, from insane cameos to ridiculous one-liners, highly questionable subplots, shocking death scenes, and everything in-between.
Though the DCEU has a few promising projects in the works with James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, Black Adam, The Flash, Aquaman 2, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, they'll need to work extra hard to match the disarming, often infuriating weirdness the franchise has delivered to date.
Superhero cinema doesn't get much more oddball than this...
20. Superman's "Cameo" - Shazam!
Shazam! is the most gloriously irreverent DCEU movie to date, and while largely feeling totally disconnected from the wider universe, concludes with one brilliantly, hilariously unexpected gag.
The movie has a running joke that none of Freddy's (Jack Dylan Grazer) classmates actually believe his claim that he's friends with Shazam (Zachary Levi) and will bring him to lunch, with one bully even sarcastically asking him, "And then Superman's gonna be bringing us dessert, right?"
Well, in the film's final scene, Freddy is joined by Shazam for lunch, and in an added twist, the Man of Steel himself enters the hall with a lunch tray, ready to sit with them.
Because Henry Cavill wasn't available to shoot the scene, however, it was ultimately filmed from the neck-down with a body double, but this really only made it that much funnier.
