30 Movies Starring MCU Actors In 2017

Even out of their superhero costumes, these actors are giving us a lot to marvel at this year.

Anyone getting tired of Marvel might want to look away from 2017.

The studio has been dominating cinemas for years now, and more recently TVs as well, but it's ramping its output up even more this year.

Guardians 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok; Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Inhumans, Iron Fist, The Punisher, The Defenders. That's a hell of a lot of MCU action on the way.

So much so, it's almost remarkable the actors find time for anything else. While they're all busy starring in each other's movies and shows, the stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have plenty of other projects too - and a lot of them sound very interesting.

Marvel attracts top talent, and often locks them down to multi-picture deals, so these movies offer a chance to see some genuinely excellent actors in non-superhero fare.

Inevitably they won't all be hits, and some may not ultimately make it out this year, but both within and outside of the MCU, 2017 is shaping up to be a huge year.

30. The Hero (Krysten Ritter)

Krysten Ritter's an established TV star nowadays, following Breaking Bad and Jessica Jones (with The Defenders on the way), but hasn't made a huge splash in movies. The Hero probably won't change that too much, but the indie flick sounds interesting nonetheless.

The Hero comes from writer/director Brett Haley, who scored something of a Sundance hit with 2015's I'll See You In My Dreams. It'll follow Sam Elliott's Lee Hayden, a former Western movie icon whose star is fading fast, and decides to remake one of his old films, and try to reconnect with his daughter (Ritter).

Ritter's expressed her huge excitement at working with Elliott, and hopefully it'll be just as much fun to watch them together on screen.

Release Date: 21 January (Sundance)
