Young lovers Nicole Walker (Witherspoon) and David McCall (Wahlberg) start to have a tense relationship when Nicole's father begins to question David's past and his personality. He doesn't approve of Nicole dating David, leaving her with an ultimatum. At first, she continues to date David with full faith, but slowly starts to pick up on his Borderline Personality Disorder. David eventually loses it when Nicole refuses to see him, and tries to break into their home with some of his friends. They end up breaking in and tormenting the family, as well as (brace yourself, animal lovers) beheading the family dog.
