When it comes to Star Trek movies, there are roughly 5 commonly accepted good movies (The Wrath of Khan, The Voyage Home, The Undiscovered Country, First Contact, and the 2009 film) and 7 mediocre to bad ones (all the rest), although tastes and opinions vary. With a track record like that, it€™s no wonder that fans like to think about what could€™ve been, especially with a rich (if sometimes ridiculous and convoluted) expanded universe providing all sorts of material that could€™ve been adapted.

In order to avoid impossible adaptations (and keep this list from ballooning out of control), this list will be limited to things that were either published or being produced before the release of the movies they replace. They also have to be an improvement in some way over the stories they replaced, otherwise there€™d be a decent chance of winding up with even worse movies than we got in reality.
