8 Actors Who Went Out Of Their Way To Insult Their Fans

Who needs admirers to respect you anyway?

Long before it stank up cinemas, Batman V Superman looked like it was going to be great. Although evidence of the disquiet in the making of the film was present well ahead of time, all the way back to San Diego Comic-Con 2015.

Like the rest of the cast Jesse Eisenberg attended the event's panel, but you can be damn sure both he and Warner Bros. in hindsight wished he hadn't been. In an interview given post-Con, to promote new film The End Of The Tour, the new Lex Luthor opened up about what it was like to attend the event for the first time, calling it akin to "probably some kind of genocide".

Eisenberg pretty swiftly, if not apologised, then at least recognised the ridiculousness of his remark ("I...was using hyperbole to describe the sensory overload I experienced", he said, so that's something, even if he still doesn't seem to understand what genocide is). Still, it hasn't stopped fan reaction being a general outrage, as those Comic-Con attendees Eisenberg insulted were in fact there in part to see him.

Still, it wasn't the first time an actor has managed to provoke their fanbase. Here are eight actors who actually went out of their way to insult their own fans.

8. Rhys Ifans Is Disgusted By The People Of Comic-Con

First up is another actor who just couldn't control their anger levels upon witnessing the San Diego Comic-Con crowds. Rhys Ifans, in town to promote The Amazing Spider-Man back in 2011, literally got into a fight with a security guard at the event, getting himself arrested for misdemeanor battery for shoving the female guard while he was, it's said, pretty drunk.

And that was before The Amazing Spider-Man panel had even happened. When it came to the big day, Ifans figured he hadn't got himself in enough trouble, so proceeded to tell Comic-Conners how meaningless their lives - and the event both he and they were attending - were.

"You people disgust me," he astoundingly began, when his turn to speak came; "It’s sad wretches like you who have made it well-nigh impossible to earn a living as an actor without either making d**k jokes or putting on fetish wear and calling it a 'superhero costume.'" Ifans has yet to return to San Diego.
