8 Actors You Didn't Know Hated Their Own Great Movies

By T.J. Barnard /

We all know why George Clooney hates Batman and Robin, because you can't defend something as inherently awful as that movie without appearing brain-damaged: everybody who has sat down and experienced Batman and Robin is actually dumber for having done so. It always comes as something of a relief, then, when the stars who signed up to act in these abominations reveal their true feelings. Especially when they, like, agree with us. "It was a difficult film to be good in," Clooney said of the Batman flick that murdered the franchise. "With hindsight, it's easy to look back at this and go, 'Woah, that was really s*** and I was really bad in it.'" No kidding, George. Generally speaking, though (unless you're Clooney), you're not supposed to badmouth your own movies. For one, it's disrespectful, and two... if everybody did that, Hollywood would simply cease to exist. That's why it's considered good form to smile and recommend that people just go and see your latest venture, even if you know deep down inside that you're suggesting that they spend their hard-earned money on something you had a part in screwing up. What you don't see quite as often, though, is actors badmouthing those movies in their filmography considered to be some of their best and most iconic works. In the cases I've assembled here, the featured actors had some serious beef with movies that people actually liked, often for the most bizarre, unexplained reasons... what gives, guys?
