Though Harley Quinn is a relatively new character by the standards of iconic comic book mainstays, she's been a massively popular fixture across DC media ever since making her 1992 debut in Batman: The Animated Series (as voiced by Arleen Sorkin).
But there's no denying that the supervillain enjoyed a major uptick in mainstream popularity after appearing in the 2016 movie Suicide Squad, as played so wonderfully by Margot Robbie.
And no matter the misgivings fans rightly had with the movie as a whole, Robbie's big-screen rendition of Harley was roundly praised, with some even deeming it the "definitive" interpretation of the character.
And credit to Robbie, who has since become an Oscar nominee, for putting in the leg-work to make Harley a far more nuanced and statuesque character than she was on the written page.
