Avengers 4 Title Predictions: What Is Infinity War's Sequel Called?!

Anything but Av4ngers...

Despite all of the talk about how much the Avengers 4's true title was going to be way too much of a spoiler to reveal before Infinity War's release, we're still no closer to knowing what the title of the Russos' forthcoming sequel is going to be. We do know what it's NOT going to be - Avengers: Endgame - as the Russos have ruled out any title based on something specifically mentioned in the movie.

Which also rules out Avengers: Nutsack Chin and Avengers: Why Is Gamora? unfortunately.

There had been some suggestion that we might get the title on the endcard of the movie, but that wasn't to be either. Presumably because the Internet would have revealed it after the first screenings and everyone else would have had it spoiled. As it was, the only message at the end of the movie read simply "Thanos will return." Ominous but not unexpected given that we'd already been told that this was to be a two-part story and he was going to be the villain in both.

Basically, we're still in exactly the same position as we were before the movie, because it was obvious that Infinity War was going to end with SOME sort of major incident that would be dealt with in the second part. And since Mission Impossible took the Fallout subheading, the most likely options are those that are linked to the snap's aftermath.

And while Marvel have said the title is a spoiler, they may well not actually mean that it would spoil Infinity War. It could be that the title comes from another comic book arc whose events are so well-known that we'd all be able to predict SOME of the plot immediately. Either way, there are some options...

Honourable Mention

Avengers: Assemble

Marvel Comics

This is probably what the film SHOULD have been called, but thanks to some ridiculous marketing decisions in the UK to change the title of The Avengers to Avengers Assemble to avoid confusion with the British TV series of the same name and it's remake movie.

Imagine a world, for a moment, where the slim chance that passing trade think there's a movie about a group of 1960s spy cliches with a poster without a single catsuit of bowler hat simply because of the title. Now imagine it's changed in such a way that the one recognisable word - "Avengers" isn't even taken out.

What the hell did that even solve?

Having Avengers 4 called Avengers Assemble would have been the perfect, chest-pumping title to fit in with the survivors coming back together for their last stand as well as the power of nostalgia, which should never be underestimated. But nope, there's just now way now.
