Avengers: Endgame ISN'T The Last Film Of The MCU's Phase 3
Spider-Man: Far From Home isn't Phase 4, after all...
For years now, we've all been led to believe that Avengers: Endgame is the end of Phase 3 of the MCU. Even without knowing the title for so long, we knew the film was the climax of the Infinity Saga and it seemed inevitable that a new Phase would begin after it closed out that story.
But not anymore, True Believers.
Kevin Feige has belatedly revealed that Spider-Man: Far From Home is actually the last film in Phase 3 rather than Endgame. He appeared at a fan event in Shanghai, and was asked about the forthcoming Spidey sequel "It's the end of the third phase. You're the first one I've told that to."
Considering how close the film comes out to Endgame's release, that actually makes a lot of sense and it seems that Far From Home might actually be something of an epilogue to Endgame's story, despite any ramifications of the movie being notably absent from the marketing. At least it should make more sense than Marvel dumping Ant-Man on the end of Phase 2 for no discernible reason.
So that means we actually know even less about Phase 4 than we initially knew. Black Widow, The Eternals, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2 and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 are all coming, but not even all of them have been confirmed yet. So maybe Feige plans on being a lot more secretive going forward?
Does this all mean that Far From Home actually will have far more tangible ties to Endgame's story than previously thought? Could it be that Mysterio is indeed tied to an Infinity Stone? Or will the film simply being used to cleanse the palate and introduce some ideas of what happened next in order to more gently end Phase 3? Time will tell.
