Black Panther's line in the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer dropped a big hint about one thing we can expect from the superhero team-up event: Captain America will be getting a new shield.

That itself is hardly a surprise, but now we have our first look at what appears to be the new shield in question courtesy of a toy leak, and it's quite different to the iconic circular shield we're used to.

The design harks back to the design of the original shield seen in Captain America: The First Avenger, and the comic Captain America: Steve Rogers, but with an extra plate at the bottom and obviously without the colours of the American flag. It's like this is again made of vibranium though, and a good bet is that it comes from Wakanda's tech genius Shuri. We saw Cap wearing gauntlets on his wrists in the Infinity War trailer, and speculated then that they might be containing his new shield, which seems even more likely now.

Spider-Man: Homecoming also mentioned a new shield for Cap too, with Happy Hogan revealing they were working on a prototype. That could be what this is, but since it's more like he gets the new shield on Wakanda, then perhaps that will be a redo of his classic shield, or something we'll see passed to whoever takes up the Captain America mantle in the future.
