As soon as the first Civil War trailer came out we were on an invisible countdown to the next Batman V Superman reveal, as Marvel and DC trade haymaker blows like two heavyweights locked in increasingly close combat. Few could have expected that DC's counter-blow would be quite so full on. The second trailer has gone heavy: we're not so much being teased as going straight to third base, with a massive amount of the film shown, including the revelation of a whole new villain who could (and should) have been reserved for an in-film twist. If you weren't concerned that there'd be too much going on in Snyder's Versus epic, you might be now. No matter how much the central hero clash is played up, having plot strands that see Lex Luthor reinvented as Frankenstein, a possible Lois Lane in peril element and endless scenes of things blowing up is going to be difficult to balance. You'll certainly have something to say about the trailer, which is sort of the point - it's high-octane and fan-baiting and exciting after all - but you really have to question if it's gone too far with the reveals. So what did we get to see in the brand new footage?
42. The Inevitable Soiree
What is it with cartoonish movie villains and hosting extravagant parties and inviting billionaires and reporters? There's the first uneasy parallel with Batman Forever. Incidentally, Alfred is not Bruce Wayne's chauffeur. And no man as large as Wayne should be driving a car that small: he will not be able to exit that Inevitably, the press love him. And he smirks horribly to greet them. Lens flare all over the shop there.
