Batman vs. Superman may have been delayed all the way into 2016, but that isnt stopping Warner Brothers and director Zack Snyder from keeping the mega-blockbuster in the limelight. One minute youre reading about the inclusion of Wonder Woman, and then the next day news breaks that Ben Affleck might exit the project. In short, it never ends, but todays breaking news is a true doozy of a shocker. This isnt a prank, but in what has to be even more unorthodox casting than Heath Ledger as the Clown Prince of Crime, Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Supermans arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. Its going to be very interesting to see how comic book aficionados and generally anyone familiar with the villain handle this considering Eisenberg isnt bald or very intimidating. To Eisenbergs credit though, he nailed the selfish and maniacal CEO role as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network; something that will probably be asked of him here too. Hearts seemed dead set on getting Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston whom easily would have fit the bill or Joaquin Phoenix, but Zack Snyder is either going a different direction with his story or just couldnt reel in the fan favorite picks. Nevertheless, the decision is sure to redirect the scorn on Ben Affleck playing Batman. Jeremy Irons has also been pegged to play the part of Bruce Waynes butter Alfred, which makes some sense considering he is English and looks the part to a certain degree, but its still not exactly who anyone had in mind. Still, we wait to be pleasantly surprised. What are your thoughts on these offbeat casting decisions? Comment below!
