Variety are reporting that Michael Bay's production company Platinum Dunes in conjuction with Universal have snapped up the rights to the spec script of Fiasco Heights written by Kyle Ward.
Story, which occurs in a stylized "hyper-real" noir environment akin to that of "Sin City," centers on a notorious hitman who teams with a failed private eye in search of a missing woman and an invaluable briefcase.
It's the first sale from screenwriter Ward, whose career so far has been as an assistant at Dreamworks. Missing briefcases, missing women and chasing hitmen are the most obvious plot devices in the history of film so those looking for anything original here might be found wanting. But really, since when have Platinum Dunes looked for original material. The low-budgeted horror label has released the Two Texas Chainsaw Massacre remakes, The Amityville Horror remake, The Hitcher remake and are set to begin shooting on a remake of Alfred Hitchcock'sThe Birds later this year. Speaking of The Birds.... we still don't know who will be directing or whether or not Naomi Watts will appear in the film. source - variety
