Bettany, Broadbent & more join The Young Victoria

By Matt Holmes /

The Young Victoria, the movie that see's the talented Emily Blunt lead a movie biopic of the early life of the 19th century Queen which also stars Rupert Friend as Prince Albert. Since then the movie has added some impressive names to it's cast...Paul Bettany (as Lord Melbourne, an adviser of the Queen), Jim Broadbent (King William, her uncle), Miranda Richardson (Duchess of Kent, her mother) and Thomas Kretschmann (King Leopold, another uncle). The movie comes from director Jean-Marc Valle who apart from having a very cool name has won tons of recognition for his movie C.R.A.Z.Y. The script was written by Julian Fellowes, who's work you will have seen in Gosford Park and Vanity Fair. Basically, he's the go-to-guy when a period drama is needed. Filming has now begun in the U.K. and will run for 10 weeks before hitting the screens probably in the last quarter of next year. I love the cast from top to bottom and the younger side of Queen Victoria is one that is not always depicted in re-tellings of her life. This is a big chance for Emily Blunt to show the world what she can do. I really hope she takes it. source - the hollywood reporter
