Brad Pitt searches for THE LOST CITY OF Z
Actor to star as Harrison Fawcett, an Indy Jones style British explorer who mysteriously disappeared in the uncharted jungles of Brazil.
Variety say Paramount have picked up The Lost City of Z, a forthcoming book and non-fiction account of British explorer Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett, who went missing in 1925 in the uncharted jungles of Brazil. Fawcett and his team were attempting to uncover the so called "Lost City of Z" and the next seven decades would see countless explorers follow in their path trying to discover what fate befell them but to this day it remains a mystery. You can read about the exploits of Fawcett HERE and the many theories of what happened to him - all of which I don't want to spoil for you because I think if the film does decide to tell us what they think happened to him (which I think they probably will) you would be better off going in completely ignorant. Brad Pitt and his Plan B production shingle will produce, with Pitt eyeing to star as Fawcett even though he looks nothing like him...
Brad Pitt is hoping to star in a movie based on one of the huge influences on Spielberg/Lucas and their original conception for Indiana Jones.

David Grann's book won't hit the shelves till February 2009 which in it's original form was a short article in a 2005 edition of the New Yorker. LOVE these adventure mysteries and they are so much more worthwhile when they are based on true events and real life figures. It's a strange career choice for Pitt though, not the kind of movie I would have envisioned him being interested in. Brad Pitt as an Indiana Jones style adventurer? Thoughts?
