Ah Joel, we meet again my friend. The word on the web is that Joel Schumacher is in talks with Paramount Vantage to direct a remake of Breaking News, a Hong Kong action movie that screened out of competition at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Alex De Rakoff, the guy who wrote and directed that quickly forgotten Orlando Bloom boxing movie The Calcium Kid is writing the script. Joel, give up my friend. Your time in the sun ended in 1995. It's time to let younger, hungry and more ambitious directors to take your place. The Number 23.... one of the worst films of the year. The Phantom of the Opera... the worst adaptation I have ever seen of such a classic tale. and those are just your last two movies. I don't think I need to remind you he directed Batman & Robin and Bad Company. I'll admit Joel, you can make a watchable movie when you put your mind to it and you can create a great atmosphere with your flicks but you have ruined so many cool sounding movies recently with your lazy direction, I don't think you have the energy to direct a Hong Kong action movie. source - the hollywood reporter
