Captain Marvel has finally arrived, and there's no denying that it's been one of the most intensely speculated-about recent MCU movies.
Between introducing audiences to Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), explaining her origins and setting up next month's Avengers: Endgame, the film had a lot to juggle, and largely did a solid(ish) job of it.
More to the point, most of fans' burning questions were paid off in interesting and satisfactory fashion, and it's safe to say that many of the most prominent rumours turned out to be - shocker - absolute nonsense.
Still, speculating about superhero movies can often be more fun than the actual movies themselves, and as ardently convinced as many were that these 12 theories were true, not a single one of them turned out to be.
