It's pretty shocking that it's taken the ultra-successful franchise more than a decade and over 20 movies to give a woman the standalone origin story treatment - especially with Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow having been a mainstay since 2010 - but alas, finally, it's happened.

And the general response from critics and fans alike is pretty positive, albeit with some significant qualifiers. Furthermore, it's only natural that viewers are going to compare it to the DCEU's own first foray into woman-fronting comic book movies, 2017's Wonder Woman.

Each movie marks a major milestone for their respective cinematic universe and also tentpole cinema as a whole, but factoring in all the important aspects of making a movie - direction, performances, writing, visuals and so on - which one comes out on top?

It's a question that's sure to divide fans right down the middle, but putting aside petty "allegiance" to either the MCU or the DCEU, let's try and make sense of who truly delivers the better flagship female superhero film.
