Christoph Waltz Denies He's Playing Blofeld In Spectre (But He Is)

He can say what he wants but we don't believe it.

Starring alongside Daniel Craig as James Bond in the upcoming Spectre is Christoph Waltz as... the villain. According to Waltz, this character is called Franz Oberhauser. He issued his denial to GQ. "That is absolutely untrue," he said, before blaming websites just like this one. "That rumour started on the Internet, and the Internet is a pest. The name of my character is Franz Oberhauser." Well, sorry to be a pest, Christoph. The truth of the matter is that his character is indeed called Franz Oberhauser. We'll hear that name spoken, and see it written on official documents. But does that mean he isn't, actually, also Ernst Stavro Blofeld? I think we can agree that Benedict Cumberbatch did play John Harrison in Star Trek Into Darkness, even while he was actually playing you know who too. I can imagine Eon Productions are going to want my guts for garters, but I'll tell you, absolutely confidently and without a flinch, that Waltz is... trying to deceive you somehow. Should I come out and categorically state that his character actually is Blofeld? I mean, I could. But is that the tasteful thing to do? Find whatever doubt you want in this story. Think of him as Oberhauser as much as makes the film exciting for you. Believe Christoph Waltz one hundred percent if you like, and just disregard this pesky little piece of the internet. The choice is yours. We can talk about this again after the film comes out, if you'd like? Spectre will be released around the world on November 6th.
