Clive Barker to give us Poe's Nightmares

By Matt Holmes /

Clive Barker is teaming with Walden Media to write and produce an original thriller based on the ghost of legendary 19th century horror writer Edgar Allen Poe who died at the age of 40, leaving behind dozens of macabre writings that influenced many generations of writers and filmmakers alike. The film will focus on a group of teenagers who because of their curiosity of investigating the last weeks of Poe's life, inadvertently trigger a curse of his worst nightmares into their lives. Clive Barker said about the project... "I think we might have a chance with this project to bring the character of Poe alive for a new audience and weave his shadowy existence into the dark enchantments of his stories so that for our protagonist, and for our audience, it will be difficult to be sure where one finishes and the other takes flight," Would you believe it... an original idea for a movie is actually going ahead, and it doesn't sound too bad at that. I would love to see Tim Burton direct this flick, he has trademarks of Poe all over this filmography and has often talked about how much he has been influenced by the man and his writings. Great idea for a movie, it will be interesting to see who ends up with the directing gig. source - the hollywood reporter, coming soon
