Danny Boyle reveals his next picture

By Matt Holmes /

Speaking to Time Out Magazine, Sunshine director Danny Boyle revealed that his next picture titled Slum Dog Millionaire will be set around the Hindi version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Boyle told the mag....
"It's about a kid from the slums of Mumbai, who has nothing - he's ill educated, he's illiterate - and he goes on the Hindi version of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' and wins it. And they can't believe that he's done it. They think he's cheated. They think he's getting signals from embedded chips in his body, or that there are people coughing in the audience, but he won it."
Boyle goes on to tell us that the structure of the film shows us how he knows each answer, as ironically the questions he gets asked relate to past events in his life. So I'm guessing that when each question comes up, we get a flashback segment telling us how it relates to him. FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN SUNSHINE, GO NO FURTHER, SPOILERS AHEAD... The reason the guy is on the show is to win the love of a woman he knows watches the show religiously, his prime concern is not becoming a millionaire at all. The script for the movie was written by The Full Monty scribe Simon Beaufoy. I wonder whether with this movie, just as his lead character gets near to the end of the show, Boyle gets bored and decides to have a serial killer invade the studio. Or better yet, change the flick to be a boring army warfare movie like 28 Days Later becomes. source - latino review, time out magazine
