After playing a kid detective and setting up a hotel for dogs, Emma Roberts continues to transition from child starlet to serious actress with Variety reporting the young actress is joining the cast of Dito Montiels true-life heist drama Empire State. Along with the already cast Dwayne Johnson and Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, the script, written by Adam Mazar (Breach) centres on real events in 1982 about two friends from Queens who plan to rob an armoured car depository. Hemsworth will be playing one of the two friends while Roberts, it is reported, will be playing a waitress and potential love interest for Hemsworth. Johnson will be assuming the role of a New York detective determined to take them down (as you do). Best stay out of his way. Weve seen how he gets when hes trying to take down these types. The story also states that the production is scheduled to begin rolling in spring, which may unfortunately clash with Johnsons commitment to Michael Bays Pain and Gain, which is set to begin production next month in Miami. Roberts, who was last seen in last years Scream 4 and Sundance pics The Art of Getting By and this years Celeste and Jesse Forever, is currently filming Adult World with John Cusack. Montiel first jumped onto the movie scene with New York based A Guide to Recognizing your Saints followed by the far less successful Fighting and The Son of No-one.
