Ender's Game: 4 Reasons Why You Should Be (Cautiously) Optimistic

By Dipo Olawo /

When I was younger, I remember checking out a copy of Ender's Game from my school's library and becoming completely obsessed; it became the only thing I would talk about with anyone willing to listen. I had concluded, with my 6th grade education, that it would forever stand as the pinnacle of all of humanity's creative achievement. Given, I was still just a kid so I would have probably said the same thing about pizza pockets. I'm a little older now, and I still believe that Ender's Game is one of the most important pieces of science fiction ever written, and I'm not the only person that thinks so either. The novel has garnered a lot of critical acclaim, and gained quite a sizeable and dedicated fandom over the years. That being said, the announcement that a film adaptation was being produced created quite a dichotomy amongst fans of the book. While some are simply excited that a film will finally be released, others want nothing to do with the production altogether. I however, as an optimist, am of the opinion that the film will be enjoyable so long as you go into it with the right expectations. Here are a few reasons you should be cautiously optimistic about Ender's Game.
