By the fifth film in a franchise like Final Destination you expect certain things and I dare say if you have enjoyed all the sequels to date, you already know what you are putting down your money for in August. In fact, New Line has your money before you even watch the new trailer that has just gone online. Like the Saw movies, you are buying the same product every year with a slight lick of different paint. This time the big disaster that is the catalyst for the narrative is a suspension bridge massacre, but the lucky ones aren't the survivors as the particularly wicked and unforeseeable fate known as death stalks and executes those still living in the most horrific but always creative manner. In the fifth film these involve our good looking characters being vulnerable at both a laser eye treatment clinic and some sort of acupuncture place. Check out the trailer below via Shock and if you're anything like me you will be grimacing and squirming at the beginning sequence. Don't we all hate that vulnerable feeling we get when we visit a medical center and deep down are terrified about something like this happening? Oh and also, notice the phenomenally stupid f**k up in the trailer when David Koechner's death via tar appears at 1.07 and then is followed in the next shot by him still alive on the bridge as a different character is supposed to react to his death. EPIC DUMBNESS. It's almost as dumb as Final Destination 5 following a movie titled The Final Destination but that's what we are getting when it opens August 26th and in 3D. Aliens of the Deep co-director Steven Quale who was also James Cameron's second Unit guy on Avatar - directs.
