Hot on the tail of the reveal that David Thewlis is actually playing Wonder Woman villain Ares - and not Danny Huston as widely expected initially - the New York Toy Fair has once more offered up a spoiler of sorts by revealing what the character will look like. DC and Warner Bros must be delighted.

The design, which was unveiled as part of the tie-in line of toys for the movie, goes some way to explaining why the character was described as a mix of practical and CGI effects, and honestly, he looks great. Here he is in all his glory...

Kudos to Warner Bros for going with a classic design based on the comic book character and not seeking a new interpretation to distinguish the movie universe from the source (it wouldn't have been the first time, after all). The skull is a natural progression from the Injustice design of the character, and while some purists will no doubt call for the Roman gladiator-style helmet, this actually looks considerably more creepy.

And while it's inevitably going to be frustrating that the character has leaked, this should automatically add a good few hype notches for fans. Nothing gives a film the easy shot in the arm like a great villain being confirmed.
