First official casting for Tarantino's INGLORIOUS BASTARDS
Which director has he cast?
Well we know they are good pals but I never thought Quentin Tarantino would ever cast Hostel director Eli Roth for one of his movies unless it was in the horror genre and a very small part. But that's just what has happened today. Variety say Roth is in talks to play a baseball bat swinging Nazi hunter in Inglorious Bastards, the Universal Pictures production which begins shooting in France and Germany in October.

Roth - who briefly appeared in the bar segment of Death Proof and of course directed the segment Thanksgiving for Grindhouse, as well as the Hostel movies under Tarantino's name as a "presenter" - is in talks to play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz. Brad Pitt is still in talks for the role of Aldo Raine, the leader of the Jewish-American soldiers who wreck havoc to Nazi occupied territories. Tarantino, it's said decided NOT to meet Leonardo DiCaprio last month when he thought the role of German officer SS. Col Hans Landa should be played by a German actor. Michael Madsen, Tim Roth & Bo Svensson are expected to be involved also, schedule permitting. Strange, strange, strange choice. I remember watching Cabin Fever, not knowing what Eli Roth looked like but knowing he appeared somewhere in the film. And I just knew immediately the moment he showed that it must have been him, there's something very forced, unconformtable and self indulgent about his acting. Something he could only really get away with in one of his own movies. I'm not surprised he ain't really done a lot of other acting. Let's hope Quentin knows what he is doing...
