No, that's not a fan edit...

Despite constant efforts at sequels, spinoffs and reboots, the Terminator franchise has never quite been able to capitalise on the momentum established by the first two movies. Although 2015's confusingly-titled Genisys was intended to kickstart a new trilogy, it made nowhere near enough money to justify a sequel, and the rights for the entire franchise ended up returning to the man who started it all, James Cameron.

Working ever since to return the series to its former glory, Cameron called in Deadpool's Tim Miller to helm the latest incarnation, which is set to ignore the majority of the sequels and instead act as a direct follow up to T2. Not only that, but it's also bringing back original characters including Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor, who's been absent from the franchise since being killed offscreen in the third instalment.

After months of leaks from the shoot, however, Paramount have finally officially unveiled the first look at the sequel, with Hamilton back in full costume, as well as newcomers Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes. While it's cool to see Hamilton packing an admittedly outrageous amount of firepower, it's Davis' costume which is the most intriguing, with the scars across her body potentially pointing towards a robotic origin.

Either way, expect more footage to be unveiled in the coming months in time for the film's November 2019 release date.
