Guardians Of The Galaxy - 8 Easter Eggs Hidden In The New Trailer

By James Garcia /

Late Tuesday night the hotly anticipated first trailer for Marvel's upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy finally arrived, giving us our first fun look at the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, AKA Star-Lord, who must team up with a group of dangerous, disparate misfits: the deadly, green skinned assassin Gamora, a gun-toting raccoon named Rocket, a man named Drax the Destroyer hungry for revenge, and the walking talking tree-man, Groot. Quill is being pursued by deadly forces who want to take from him an orb that has the power to destroy the cosmos, and he and his new compatriots must rally together to save the galaxy. The film is based on a cult comic book from Marvel, and is undoubtedly their riskiest bet yet. They won't only need to sell the out-of-the-box concept to casual audiences, but will have to completely create a world that exists in their cinematic universe but also stands well on its own. The comic series has a rich, deep mythology in which director James Gunn can explore, and judging by what we've seen so far, he's done just that. Make sure to check out the trailer for yourself here: I've already outlined five things we learned about the film through this new trailer, and now I'd like to take a look even deeper and examine the plethora of fun Easter Eggs and comic book references for fans to sink their teeth into.
