Halloween Ends Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
Brace yourself for one of the weirdest horror sequels ever.
The time has finally come, for John Carpenter's Halloween franchise to deliver its apparent end, with the concluding chapter in David Gordon Green's sequel trilogy.
And while it's extremely tricky to land any sufficiently popular series, Halloween Ends seems primed to be especially divisive with fans, given some of the wild, unexpected swings Green takes with this bookending chapter.
Early critical and audience reception to the sequel is already extremely polarised, some lauding Green for not merely giving fans the film they expected, while others felt that it strayed too far from what most want from a Halloween movie.
Ultimately it's a film that's certainly going to get people talking for better or worse, even if the end result is going to be seen as disappointing by a large swath of the fanbase. Yet in the grand scheme of the series' totally uneven quality, it's certainly no Halloween: Resurrection.
It's not a spoiler to say that Halloween will inevitably be rebooted by Universal in the future, but for now at least, Halloween Ends puts the series into concrete hibernation.
