Hanks level?
Kevin Smith has told NHL.com in regards to the casting of his Cop Out actor Seann William Scott as the life-long hockey fan "Buddy" turned pretty mediocre hockey goon in his film adaptation of Warren Zevon's story song Hit Somebody...
I look at this as Seanns opportunity to go to the (Tom) Hanks level,Oh boy. Really?
Hanks for years and years did this (lesser) role and then he became that (blockbuster movie) guy. This is Seanns chance to do that as well, not just be Stifler. And its my chance to not just be the Clerks guy. Its my chance to do something big, epic in scale. Stories I tell span one day. This spans 30 years. Youre talking a period. Youre trying to bring people to a time in your life that hasnt existed in 30 years. The look of it, the feel of it, the sound of it everything I have is going to be in that movie.Ironically, these comments kind of make Smith look a little sillier than usual in comparing Scott and Hanks, as a freshly posted L.A. Times piece quotes Scott say as being in talks for the newly announced American Pie reboot - which he calls "an awesome idea" with a "definite possibility" he will appear in the new go-around. The Pie reboot of a franchise that feels kinda unnecessary in the world of Superbad - forgets everything that came after movie 3, and is known among Universal heads as The Real American Pie 4.
