He-Man returns!

I was holding off from posting this the other day as I truly didn't believe it, but we now have official confirmation from Variety so I guess it's true. Joel Silver is producing a new live-action movie of Masters of the Universe for Warner Brothers. Currently talks are under-way between Mattel (the toy company who created the characters) and Warners, with the co-writer of David Goyer's upcoming "Green Arrow in Prison" movie Super Max is said to be on board. His name is Justin Marks, and I'm hearing he's the hottest geek around Hollywood right now.
The franchise has been reimagined by the producer and the writers and pitched to Mattel as a classic good vs. evil battle, using the kind of visual effects strategy employed in "300." A warrior is touted as the last hope of a magical land called Eternia, which is being ravaged by technology and the evil Skeletor. Many of the characters in the Middle Earth-like universe will be informed by the mythology created in the four different cartoon series done since the 1980s.
The 1987 version of Masters of the Universe is one of my favourite movies of all time. I know it's absolutely ridiculous but I must re-visit that damn film about three times a year, I can't get enough of it. Frank Langella's extraordinary performance as Skeletor is what keeps drawing me back the most, they are never going to get someone to fill his shoes. So there you have it. He-Man is returning and this time it would seem that it's definitely going to happen. Thoughts?
