With just under a month to go until the second instalment in The Hobbit trilogy, and with the release of new trailers and posters, excitement from the fans is reaching giddy new heights (like Bilbo getting snatch up by eagles, but with less motion sickness). And so it should The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug looks like it's shaping up to be entirely awesome. Director Peter Jackson has done what few have managed he has created a fandom with Lord of the Rings, and has now fed it industriously with production blogs and exclusive titbits from the set of the Hobbit films ensuring that, good or bad, his films will have an audience. As a die-hard fan myself (like, the weird sort who decides it would be fun to go to the opening night in costume), I can admit there were issues with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
