Hotel Transylviana picked up by Sony

3D animation is really starting to become big business in Hollywood, as companies such as Sony are really pushing hard to compete with Pixar and Dreamworks. Sony's first delve into the animated picture land is with the movie Open Season to be released in September, but they have already lined up the animated movie Surf's Up for next year, and just greenlighted a third in Hotel Transylviana to be released in 2009! The plot is centered around classical Universal Horror picture movie monsters such as Frankenstein, Dracula and The Mummy who are locked up inside "Hotel Transylviana" as "21st century technology has made them irrelevant". I think this movie sounds really cool. I love some of the old Universal Horror movies like Boris Karloff's The Mummy and Bela Lugosi's Dracula. No matter what is released in 2009, i can't see too many films being higher on my "must see" list than this. source - cinematical
