How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World Review - 5 Ups & 3 Downs
A fitting but flawed finale to the franchise.
The final entry into the beloved How to Train Your Dragon franchise is in UK cinemas now, and the early critical consensus is that it's an enjoyable, affecting closer to the trilogy, if perhaps lacking a little of its predecessors' freshness.
With so many film series completely losing their footing by their second or especially their third movie, the fact that The Hidden World is a mostly worthy follow-up is certainly a relief.
Delivering on the visual majesty, sweetness and progressive themes that have characterised the series up to this point, number three serves as a poignant send-off to these characters, leaving DreamWorks scrambling to fill the void that it leaves behind.
If you're a fan of the previous films this is an easy recommendation, as long as you're not expecting a soaring, heartfelt spectacle on quite the same level as what came before.
Measured up against most Hollywood animated fare, this is a fine movie for kids and adults alike. But first, here's what The Hidden World didn't quite get right...
