The trio of Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Sam Wilson had been performing clandestine operations ever since Captain America: Civil War ended, before being brought out of the shadows by Thanos and his Black Order, and now we know the name they went by was Secret Avengers.

It's a title that many had already speculated they'd be going by ever since the end of Civil War, with Rogers leading a team of the same name (but with different members) in the comics too, and now director Joe Russo has all but confirmed it on Infinity War's audio commentary, saying:

"Obviously the Black Order are very powerful: they've got Vision on his heels, they're giving Wanda a run for her money. But what we wanted to illustrate here is that this core group of Avengers, quote unquote Secret Avengers in Falcon, Widow and Cap are hardened, tough, and work very well as a unit, and surprise the Black Order here. Get the upper hand."

It doesn't change much, but it is fun to be able to attach the name to the team and makes for a nice reference to the comic books, while it also explains just why they were able to beat the Black Order.
