There's no Snoke without fire.

He may have been shockingly killed off in The Last Jedi, but could Andy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke still appear in Star Wars Episode IX?

As first spotted by the Star Wars Leaks Reddit page, Serkis was slated to appear at Keystone Comic Con in Philadelphia this past weekend, but had to cancel due to scheduling conflicts.

That does on the surface look like pretty flimsy evidence, but there's a growing trend of Star Wars actors having to cancel convention appearances due to filming on the saga. Most notably, Billy Dee Williams did so not long before he was confirmed as part of Episode IX's cast, while Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo also had to cancel a September con appearance to film scenes for the movie.

Serkis' own cancellation could, of course, be completely unrelated, but there's at least a precedent to suggest it's because of Episode IX, which is currently filming at Pinewood Studios, and he doesn't have anything else in production right now.

While Snoke is dead, there are ways the character could return - something Serkis himself has said he'd be open to. There could be flashbacks showing how he gained so much influence over Ben Solo, or he could appear as a vision, either in nightmares or something actually connected to the Force, that haunts Kylo Ren throughout the movie.

Either way, it's unlikely they'd actually announce it, and would rather save a cameo - should one be happening - as a 'surprise' for the movie itself. We'll find out one way or another in December next year.
