Jack Ryan's return finds new writer

By Matt Holmes /

Iranian born Hossein Amini will be writing the new Jack Ryan movie, the fifth involving the Tom Clancy created character for Paramount Pictures which is now 100% officially being made as an origin tale. It's also the first in the cannon not based on a Clancy novel and will be completely un-related to any of the previous movies. It's a complete reboot basically. It was rumored a while back that after the return to stardom of Harrison Ford that an older Ryan tale was being favoured but that no longer seems to be the case. Sam Raimi is also officially no longer involved according to The Hollywood Reporter, though I think we have known that for a while now. Amini was Oscar nominated for the 1997 drama THE WINGS OF THE DOVE and also scripted THE FOUR FEATHERS.
