J.K. Simmons Is Extremely Jacked For Role As Commissioner Gordon In Justice League

What kind of Gordon are we getting?!

When J.K. Simmons was announced for the role of Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder's Justice League, there was a general agreement that it was a fine bit of casting.

After all, he's an Oscar-winner who put in a frighteningly good performance as drum teacher Fletcher in Whiplash, and knows his way around a comic book movie after starring as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.

However, while he's undoubtedly a heavyweight actor, I'm not sure anyone was expecting, well, this. As first picked up by Batman News, celebrity fitness trainer Aaron Williamson revealed on Instagram just how Simmons has been preparing for the role, and it's not what you'd expect. As the images below show, the 61-year-old has been getting ridiculously jacked for the role:

This Commissioner Gordon is a far cry from the Gary Oldman version of The Dark Knight trilogy, and indeed how the character typically looks in the comics. It points to a tougher and more battle ready version of the character, someone who'll by more physical than you would expect. While it's an odd move, there's no denying that Simmons is looking huge - in fact, by the time the movie's done he could even be bigger than Superman.

Who needs superheroes when you've got Commissioner Gordon, eh?

Also of note here is the wild facial hair, which I'll assume will be trimmed down into the classic Gordon 'tache. If not, then it's going to be a really different take.
