Joe Carnahan & Jason Bateman are Remarkable Fellows

By Matt Holmes /

Joe Carnahan is a name we mention quite a lot here at Obsessed With Film. Not only is he a pretty cool sounding guy who keeps us informed with latest developments in his movies through his blog... but he also makes some cool, fun and interesting movies as well. Variety are reporting that Carnahan will write and direct the action buddy comedy The Remarkable Fellows for Universal Pictures. The idea for the premise of the movie came from none other than his Smokin' Aces actor Jason Bateman, surely one of the funniest cats working in movies today. The movie will revolve around two brothers who take over the family business of dishing out punishment and revenge for clients. Bateman will play one of the brothers, with the search on for another actor to play the second half of the family. I'm just going to take this time to suggest some names who I think would be great as a brother to Bateman in a Carnahan movie... George Clooney, Sam Rockwell, Nathan Fillion and Ben Affleck. Bateman tells us a little more about the movie, found through Variety...
The duo, who are "part James Bond and part Ricky Jay," get assignments "from their father and carry them out all over the world," Bateman said. "The revenge scenario is dependent on the intricacy of the plot. If the president of a major bank was sleeping with the French ambassador's wife, the banker would call these guys."
The movie will be written before he begins pre-production on the James Ellroy novel White Jazz (the unofficial L.A. Confidential sequel type continution!) which will star George Clooney. A buddy cop movie, directed by Joe Carnahan which comes from the mind of the comic genius that is Jason Bateman. Hell yeah, I'm in!
