Josh Harnett hits the END ZONE!

Surprisingly Harnett's not a detective in this one...

There's only one genre I can stand Josh Harnett in and that's the film noir/detective genre. He has that certain look, that certain voice and manner that suits the kind of character that dominated 50's American cinema. Although some of the movies themselves were less than great, his turns in things like The Black Dahlia, Lucky Number Slevin, Sin City and Hollywood Homicide are a testament to this. He's cool in that genre because you can be an unlikable prick with no personality. In everything else, it just doesn't work. And sadly, there's no cops, dark chiaroscuro lighting or femme fatales in this one...

Variety are carrying the news today that Harnett will star alongside Sam Rockwell in End Zone, a George Ratliff directed adaptation of Don DelLillio's novel of the same name. Kat Dennings will also star in the movie which will be pre-strike with a February start date planned on this low budget feature.
Hartnett will play a gifted running back who is fumbling his attempts to acclimate to stardom. Dennings plays a student who captivates the jock. Rockwell plays the school's excitable publicist. Yet to be cast is a teacher of international terrorism and mass destruction who sees the running back as the perfect soldier/student.
The film will be Ratliff's second feature after the 'horror movie with no scares' Joshua earlier this year. Yawn...
