Judd Apatow to produce a new PEE-WEE HERMAN movie!

Universal developing a third Pee-Wee movie that'll be a 'gigantic' road adventure.

Paul Reubens has tried for well over ten years to get a new Pee-Wee Herman movie off the ground, at one time attempting to crack a movie for kids, then later a one for adults, but he just never got the backing of a studio, or a producer who could make it happen. Well, that is until now. A-list producer Judd Apatow has swooped in to help Reubens, setting up what is the third Pee-Wee movie. It's setup at Universal and is now actively in development. Reubens will co-script the film alongside actor Paul Rust - who was the guy who loved Beth Cooper, and was one of the Inglourious Basterds. Rust is a guy Apatow has been in co-huts with for some time and they have several specs in development. Pee-Wee 3 then will be a road movie that'll be 'a gigantic adventure'. We are 100% sure original director Tim Burton won't be involved. Apatow told Variety;
"Let's face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman... I am so excited to be working with Paul Reubens -- who is an extraordinary and groundbreaking actor and writer. It's so great to watch him return with such relevance."
There's a chance this Pee-Wee movie is the same as the one Reubens was trying to gather financing for last year. Titled, Pee-Wee's Big Playhouse, it could be the case that Rust will be overseeing a re-write with Ruebens, rather than Apatow asking for a new screenplay. The project came together when Apatow saw a live Pee-Wee stage show in L.A. and was impressed by the reaction and how funny the concept of Pee-Wee still was. Amazingly, Reubens will star in a one-man show for ten weeks on Broadway in October that is completely sold out. So I guess, this movie is in demand then?
